Designs with Reflection
Castlerock Designer Homes offers thoughtfully and deliberately designed homes to reflect and celebrate the way we want to live.
First, careful consideration, study and focus is expended in the design and craftsmanship of the kitchen, entertaining areas and Owner’s Retreat. These are the life center of any home and the heart of how we want to live.
Second, the balance of the home is designed around the life center with the goal to make each living space interesting, unique and joyous.
Third, the details do matter and you will find many exciting design components in our homes that offer convenience and beauty.
Last, we always have something special just for you. It might be that wine grotto you have always dreamed of, or a king’s pantry, or a relaxing water feature, or maybe an outdoor kitchen.
Designs for Value
Although we design from the inside-out, the value of your home investment is seen from the outside-in during three important viewing segments or impressions when visiting your home.
1. Streetscape. The first is when you first drive up to the home and view the front elevation, front yard, landscaping, et cetera, known as the streetscape. The streetscape should be attractive and inviting. If so, we say the home has “curb appeal”. We all have heard this from our real estate friends, but just what gives a home curb appeal? There are many factors. Some are well known like colors, materials and textures and some not so obvious like a bold and architecturally pleasing focal point and an inviting front door and entry, the eyes of home’s personality.
2. Interiorscape. The second important viewing segment is the “interiorscape”, my word for your first impressions of the interior when entering the front door. A person’s attraction to the interiorscape is dependent on factors similar those that attract them to the streetscape. It includes design components like colors, materials and textures and a bold and architecturally pleasing focal point, like an outside view or fireplace, but adds factors like lighting, whether natural or artificial, and an obvious and inviting place to go from the entry.
3. Everything Else. The last important viewing segment when visiting your home is everything else. This does not mean that the balance of your home is less important than the front and entry. It is just that if your not exhilarated by the first two segments, you will not be motivated to entertain the third segment fairly. Conversely, if you desire the first two segments, the third segment is easier to enjoy and will largely determine the home’s value to you and others. So we focus on the kitchen, owner’s retreat, entertainment area and that special extra feature and then thoughtfully design the streetscape and interiorscape.
This is only a glimpse of the design strategy required to design and build your best home investment. Let us make sure your investment is good for you during and after your ownership. Just remember, you live in your home from the inside-out but a future buyer of your home will view your home from the outside-in.
